Well, here’s the thing if you’re going to be setting a financial goal at the beginning of 2015 I think you need to hear this right now – Don’t wait to set your goal! I would hate to see you go into debt over Christmas just to make a goal to get out of that debt ten days later.
It’s pretty counterproductive, right?
Why You Should Set Your Financial Goals Now
Just because January marks the start of the New Year does not mean it’s the only time you should set goals for yourself. In fact, only 8% of the people who set New Year’s Resolutions actually achieve them.
That right there should be proof enough not to follow the crowd and set your goals now.
If you are really dedicated to making improvements to your life and finances you’re dedicated NOW. I mean, how are those New Year’s resolutions coming along from last year?
If you’ve long forgot about them you need to reset your goals today.
Are You Going to Let Christmas Ruin Your Finances?
The second reason I want you to go ahead and set those financial goals today is because Christmas is right around the corner.
You know what Christmas means don’t you? Retailers are trying to bait you, hook, line and sinker so that you spend way more money than you need to. Why do you think Black Friday was created? Not to benefit you – but to benefit retailers.
Let’ look at the facts – the point of Black Friday is to lure you into the store by having a few exceptionally priced products in hopes that you buy all the high profit margin products. Another fact – the average American has over $15,000 worth of credit card debt. Mortgaging Christmas gifts leads to this debt.
Christmas is not an excuse to go into debt or blow your budget. Christmas doesn’t sneak up on you either – it’s the same day of the year, each and every year, giving you plenty of time to plan.
With a little over a month until Christmas you still have time to get creative and shop without blowing your budget or getting to debt.
Will you take this challenge or will you rack up debt only to set a goal to pay it all back ten days later?
If You’re Serious About Improving Your Life You Wouldn’t Wait Until January to Set Your Goals
Unless you’re one of the 8% of people who actually achieve their New Year’s Resolutions waiting to set goals until January is downright dumb.
If you’re serious about improving your life and your finances you’ll set goals every month. You’ll make a plan to do better and you’ll follow through on the plan. Will you have setbacks? Absolutely! Nobody is perfect, mistakes happen. What’s important is your ability to get back on track.
I’m sorry if this all sounds harsh but I don’t want to see any self-sabotaging this Christmas season. Don’t buy into the hype – you’re better than that. Christmas is now about how much you spend on gifts. And if you’re serious about improving your financial life you’ll do something about it starting today!
Have you set goals for this month yet?
